New Enid Blyton book uncovered

Being British — to my American readers, yep, that’s right, if I was talking instead of typing, I’d have a funny accent 🙂 — the first author I knew by name because I loved her books so much was Enid Blyton. I keep naming things in my books Nod after her Noddy!

So seeing the news from the BBC that an unpublished novel of hers has been found, I got goosebumps. I, for one, am dieing to read it. How about you?

If you had the chance to read a lost manuscript from a children’s book author, whose would it be?

  1. As an adult, I sure hope Harper Lee’s got some manuscripts in a vault. For kids, maybe another Narnia book by C.S. Lewis or something from E.B. White.

  2. Ooh, those would be good. Maybe Lucy’s granddaughter finds Narnia and starts the whole adventure again. 🙂

  3. No way! I read all of Enid Blyton’s books in Spanish when I was growing up and now you tell me there is a NEW one? I am going to try to get a copy too! This is interesting because a few months ago I bought a couple of the originals in English (I don’t have my copies in Spanish anymore since I moved to the USA) and read them again. I am exploring writing adventure books for young readers (I write mostly nonfiction about science, nature, and biographies for all ages), and wanted to recall the excitement of reading my favorite childhood books. What a flashback! I would also read a new manuscript of the author of THE HOLLISTERS, but I don’t remember the name…I am expecting a couple of used Hollister’s books I bought too.
