Release Day! THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST is Out

Selfie with THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST

IT’S RELEASE DAY for my debut novel, THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST!!!

The story I started writing in 2010 was published by Paula Wiseman Books/Simon & Schuster today, and I can’t be more excited.

This story about a boy stuffed full of fear has a journey very close to the Boy himself. I climbed a rocky mountain writing this book, often feeling like I would never make it to the top—to where the story would be its best. But I pushed forward, got afraid, fell back, got up and tried again, just like the Boy. And now, the story is a book.

THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST is going to be published in Italy, Turkey and Romania, while the U.S. version is available for sale in England as well as many other countries.

The book has received incredible praise from reviewers, both in trade magazines and early readers. I’m so grateful for their wonderful words and love of this Boy’s journey.

I’m also so so grateful for the incredible support of my parents and husband who kept pushing me up that mountain, my wonderful agent Rachel Orr of Prospect Agency for championing this book, my fabulous editor Sarah Jane Abbott and publisher Paula Wiseman for seeing the potential in this story, my incredible art director Laurent Linn and illustrator Justin Hernandez for turning my story into a beautiful book, and all the amazing people at Simon & Schuster from editorial to publicity to marketing to Education & Libraries to sales and beyond for making sure THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST got the best send-off possible as it headed out into the world.

With the book now on shelves, this is the last day of #18DaystoMGDebut, and the prompt is a release day selfie. Here’s one I took this morning, but our dog Annie decided she should be in it too. 🙂
