10 Days to Release: ARC in the Wild

One of the most fun parts of this publishing process is seeing ARCs of THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST out in the wild, which is why I’m so glad that’s the topic for day 10 of #18DaystoMGDebut.

There have been a lot of wonderful sightings, with authors, teachers and librarians sharing their photos of the Advanced Reader Copies of my novels. One of my favorites is this one from Mandy Stallard because of the use of “Once upon a time” her caption.

The Boy in the story is alone in a scary place, and one of the tools he uses to comfort himself and make himself feel more brave is to imagine “Once upon a time…” stories. Like this part on page 12 in the book:

“Once upon a time, there was a boy who was lost.” The words crawled over the boy’s lips, slipping past his despair. “The brave king of the land sent out a thousand knights to search every corner of the world. They searched the cities and the forests, the oceans and the beaches. Until they saw him, all alone. And they took him home.”

So I loved that Mandy pulled the “Once upon a time…” idea into her caption.

Here are some of my other favorite sightings of my ARC in the wild:

I love all these pictures!
