Book Birthday Bash: Hello, Future Me

Book Birthday Bash

Hello, Future Me by Kim VentrellaHappy Book Birthday to HELLO, FUTURE ME!

In this middle-grade novel, 11-year-old June is a problem-solver. Some people might call her a busybody, but that’s okay. Just look at all the couples she’s helped find love! (Grateful newlyweds Marlene and Big Vic have even promised June free hot chocolate for life at their café.)

However, when June learns that her parents are getting divorced, she has to face the fact that there are some problems too big even for her. At least, that’s what the adults in her life keep saying.

But June’s convinced there’s a way to make her parents fall back in love. While brainstorming ideas on her new secondhand laptop—purchased from a mysterious store in town called The Shop of Last Resort—June gets a strange IM from someone named JuniePie28 . . . someone who claims to be an older version of June messaging her from the future.

At first, she assumes it’s a prank. But JuniePie28 knows too much about June’s life to be a fraud, and future June warns her against interfering. But June can’t just sit around and watch her parents’ marriage dissolve, not when there’s a magical shop in town that could be the answer to all her problems! Will June prove her older self wrong and stop the divorce? Or will she have to accept that there are some things in life she can’t fix?

We’re so happy you’re at our party for HELLO, FUTURE ME. Join in the fun…

PARTY LOCATION…

At The Friendly Bean, of course, the number one coffee shop on Tanglewood Crossing’s quirky downtown strip. Oh, and it’s Bigfoot Week, that means every day has a different themed event. The Lover’s Brunch and the Bigfoot Ball are coming up soon, so the coffee shop boasts sparkly hearts, red and pink streamers, Bigfoot cupids and more glitter than you could ever imagine. Oh, and there’s June sitting in the corner booth, putting her “Welcome Home Mom” plans into action. They also involve tons of glitter, in case you were wondering. And her best friend Calvin, but he is not being oh-so-helpful. Sigh. Basically, just an ordinary day in the not-so-ordinary town of Tanglewood Crossing.

PARTY SOUNDS…

Cheesy romantic ballads, of course.

PARTY FOOD…

Strawberry milkshakes, Marlene’s famous cinnamon scones and the Lover’s Special (i.e. a huge slice of chocolate cake with two glasses of sparkling champagne).

PARTY GAMES…

Dancing, of course. Sneaking out to peruse the new shop that just popped up in town–The Shop of Last Resort. What’s up with all the strange items claiming to have magical properties? As if! Playing pin the toe on the Bigfoot. And glitter. Always glitter.

PARTY FAVORS…

Did I mention glitter? Glitter hearts, sparkly Bigfoot stickers, secret Valentines…and maybe even a magical object or two from that strange shop down the street.
